Estimated vs. finalized earnings
Estimated revenue in YouTube Analytics may differ from finalized payments due to final adjustments and is modified at the end of the month to match. Estimated revenue does not include partner-sold or partner-served advertising revenue (you can contact your partner manager if you have questions).

Estimated earnings: YouTube Analytics Revenue report

To see your estimated earnings, use the YouTube Analytics Revenue report. You won't see your YouTube revenue in AdSense Estimated Earnings.

The Revenue report is available for YouTube Partners who have associated an AdSense account. Earnings data typically displays 24–48 hours after the end of the day, Pacific Time, but may sometimes take longer to appear.

The general trends available in Estimated earnings graph should reflect the finalized data, but we cannot guarantee that the data will not change. The latency for the most recent Estimated earnings data is approximately two days. Because the data is shown before the end of the month, there may be slight adjustments made at the end of the month.

Finalized earnings: AdSense Payments report

You can find finalized YouTube earnings within your AdSense account.

Finalized earnings are not transferred to AdSense until about halfway through the following month (i.e. earnings accrued in June will be transferred to AdSense in mid-July).

Finalized YouTube earnings for the previous month are added to your AdSense account balance between the 10th and 14th of the month and paid out that month if your total balance has reached the payment threshold and if you have no payment holds.

1. Sign in to your AdSense account.
2. On the left, select Settings > Payments. 
3. You'll see your total earnings for the selected timeframe and your last transactions.

Other reports in AdSense, such as the performance reports, do not include your YouTube earnings. To view your detailed YouTube financial performance, including daily estimated earnings, use YouTube Analytics.

Set up an AdSense account for payments

If your channel has been approved to join the YouTube Partner Program, you need to associate an approved AdSense account with your YouTube channel to earn money from your videos and get paid.

Before you start: You can only have one AdSense account under the same payee name per AdSense's Terms and Conditions. Duplicate AdSense accounts created through YouTube will not be approved and monetization will be disabled for the associated YouTube channel.

Use the troubleshooter below to link to the right AdSense account for your YouTube channel. You can use your existing AdSense account or create a new one if you don't have one.

You can monetize more than one YouTube channel with the same AdSense account. Just follow the instructions below to add the channel(s) to an approved AdSense account.

I want to monetize my videos, but I was disapproved for being under 18

The minimum age requirement to participate in AdSense is 18 years. If you have submitted an AdSense application through YouTube and were disapproved by our system for being an underage publisher, your YouTube account will still be linked to this disapproved AdSense application. You should follow the instructions in the disapproval e-mail you received to verify your age (if you are over 18) and resubmit the AdSense application.

In case you are under 18 years old, the only way to start monetizing your videos is to link the YouTube account to an approved AdSense account (of a parent or guardian who is over 18).

I'm seeing ads close to my videos

It’s possible to see ads appearing against your uploaded videos even if you haven’t monetized the videos yourself. If your video contains content to which you don’t own all necessary rights, the rights holder may have identified his/her content in your video and chosen to place ads on it.

Sign up for AdSense via YouTube

As your YouTube videos accumulate more views, you may want to apply for an AdSense account to associate with your YouTube account. Successfully linking the two accounts means you’ll be eligible to receive payment.

To sign up for an AdSense account through YouTube, follow the steps below:

1. Make sure your YouTube account is enabled for monetization.
2. Submit your application to create a new AdSense account to link with your YouTube channel. Once your application has been approved, you'll see a "Host account" label on the Home page of your AdSense account. Google will send you a payment the month after your AdSense balance exceeds $100, assuming your AdSense account is in good standing. Learn more about when you'll get paid.
3. If you also have your own non-host website where you’d like to show ads, then you’ll need to submit a one-time application form to tell us the URL of your site.
   You only need to complete this step if you want to monetize your own website -- you don’t need to take any further action to continue to monetize your YouTube videos.
   Once your one-time application is approved, the "Host account" label will be removed from the Home page of your AdSense account and you’ll have access to generate the AdSense ad code you need to monetize your non-host partner website.

How to earn money from your videos

On January 16, 2018, we announced new eligibility requirements for the YouTube Partner Program. Once a channel reaches 4,000 watch hours in the previous 12 months and 1,000 subscribers it will be reviewed to join the program.

 

This is part of an effort to strengthen our requirements for monetization so spammers, impersonators, and other bad actors can’t hurt our ecosystem or take advantage of creators, while continuing to reward those who make our platform great. Get more details on the YouTube Creator Blog.

The YouTube Partner Program lets creators monetize their content on YouTube. Creators can earn money from advertisements served on their videos and from YouTube Premium subscribers watching their content.

You must complete the 4 steps below before you can earn money from your videos. Learn about eligibility and the program threshold.

Set up your channel to earn money

Updated July 3, 2018: We’ve finished reviewing all eligible applications that were submitted before June 1, 2018. You should have received an email from us with details on the status of your application. If not, you can expect an email over the next few days. You can also find more about your status on the Monetization Page in Creator Studio.

There are some channels we reviewed that we’d like to look at more closely before accepting at this time. Once we have more information to ensure they comply with our policies, we’ll send another update directly to these channels. 

Step 1: Read and agree to the YouTube Partner Program terms

1. Sign in to YouTube.
2. In the top right, select your account icon > Creator Studio. 
3. In the left menu, select Channel > Status and features.
4. Under "Monetization," click Enable.
5. Follow the on-screen steps to accept the YouTube Partner Program Terms.

Step 2: Sign up for AdSense

Create a new AdSense account or connect an existing one to your channel. You need an AdSense account to earn money from your videos and get paid. Follow these steps to set up an AdSense account.

In order to receive payments, you need to log into your AdSense account and ensure you have resolved any payment holds. Once any holds are resolved, you'll be paid when your earnings reach your local payment threshold (as long as monetization is not suspended for your channel and you're in compliance with our policies).

Step 3: Set monetization preferences

Set what types of ads you want to run on your videos and automatically turn on monetization for all your existing and future videos.

When you set this up, you will start earning money as soon as your channel is approved.

1. Confirm you want to monetize for all your existing and future videos.
2. Check the boxes under Ads formats to choose the types of ads you want to show. 
3. Click Save.

You can always change these setting in your monetization default so that every upload is automatically monetized or not monetized, or choose the specific videos you want to monetize.

Step 4: Get reviewed

Once your channel meets the program threshold, we'll review your application to make sure your channel activity adheres to the YouTube Partner Program policies, YouTube Terms of Service, and our Community Guidelines. We'll let you know as soon as the process is complete.

If you don't have enough views for a review yet, keep making original content and growing your audience.

This view count threshold gives us enough information to determine the validity of a channel. It also allows us to confirm if a channel is following our community guidelines and advertiser policies.

YouTube Partner Program overview

The YouTube Partner Program (YPP) lets creators monetize their content on YouTube. Creators can earn money from advertisements served on their videos and from YouTube Premium subscribers watching their content. You can apply to join the YouTube Partner Program from your account in Creator Studio.

We have features that allow your viewers to purchase digital and physical goods through YouTube. These features include:

These features have different eligibility requirements and aren’t available to everyone who is part of the YouTube Partner Program.

Eligibility & program threshold

You’re eligible to apply to join the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) if you meet all of these requirements:

• YPP is available in your country
• You have more than 4,000 watch hours in the previous 12 months
• You have more than 1,000 subscribers
• You create content that meets YouTube Partner Program policies
• You have linked an approved AdSense account

This program threshold allows us to significantly improve our ability to identify creators who contribute positively to the community, and help drive more ad revenue to them (and away from bad actors). These standards also help us prevent potentially inappropriate content from monetizing, which can hurt revenue for everyone.

You can check your watch time and subscribers in YouTube Analytics. If you don’t meet the threshold yet, keep working to make original content and build your audience using tips from top creators.

Follow the 4 steps to join the YouTube Partner Program from your account in Creator Studio or YouTube Studio beta. Once your channel reaches the program threshold, you'll be reviewed to join.

What happens when you apply

Once your channel reaches the program threshold, your channel activity is reviewed to make sure your content adheres to the YouTube Partner Program policies, YouTube Terms of Service, YouTube spam policies, and our Community Guidelines.

We'll email you to let you know as soon as the process is complete. You can also check the status of your application at Creator Studio > Channel > Monetization. The process may take up to several weeks.

• If you're approved: You'll start earning money on YouTube right away if you've already chosen the videos you want to monetize.
• If you're not approved: If your channel isn't approved to join the program, it's likely because we cannot determine whether your channel's activity complies with the YouTube Partner Program policies and Community Guidelines.

AdMob, YouTube, Blogger, and host partnerships

Apply for a fully activated AdSense account to also show ads on my own site

When you signed up for AdMob, we also created a partially approved AdSense account for you. If you do have your own site that you’d like to show ads on, you can apply to fully activate your AdSense account, by adding “AdSense for content” as described below. Once your AdSense account is fully activated, you can earn money by displaying targeted Google ads on your site.

To show ads on your own site:

1. Sign in to your AdSense account.
2. Click Ads.
3. Under “Add AdSense for content", click Apply now.
4. Complete the AdSense application form, then click Submit my application.
5. Finally, you need to create your first ad unit and place the ad code on the URL that you provided in your AdSense application, on a page that receives traffic. You can learn more about how to implement ad code on your site in our code implementation guide.

Note that until your AdSense account is fully activated, only blank ads will appear on your pages. Once your account is fully activated, you’ll receive a confirmation email and begin to see live ads. Please don't click on your live ads, even to test them -- doing so isn't permitted by the AdSense Program policies.

Once your application is approved, you’re welcome to place your ad code on any site that you own without any further approvals.
